Daniel B. Arvizu studied Photography at the Italian Photography Institute in Milan and Cinematography at the prestigious Italian National Film School: Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, under the tutoring of Giuseppe Rotunno. During those formation years and later on, he also worked as an assistant editor and as a colorist. He now counts more than fifteen years of experience as video and filmmaker. As a photographer and video-artist, his work has been exposed in several countries across the world, including Italy, Spain, Argentina, Colombia and Mexico.
He received the Premio Fundación Arenas in Barcelona in 2010 and was selected for the “Italy in the World” pavilion of the 54th Biennale di Venezia in 2011.
His current documentary project "Darwin's Baby" has been selected for development grant by the Sundance Institute with support from Sandbox Films.
Co-Director, editor and cinematographer of the feature documentary "The Origins of Music" (presented at the Beefeater In-Edit Music Film Festival in Barcelona, October 2016 ). his credits as editor include TV documentary series "Obrint Plaça" for TV3, Club Clan channel for TvE and feature documentary "Mantra: Sounds into Silence" (Dir. Georgia Wyss). His credits as cinematographer include the documentary “Made in Chinatown” (Dir. Sergio Basso), the feature “Pepe nel Latte” (Dir. Roberto Miali) and the short movie “Niendorf: The Damaged Piano”, with Michael Nyman (Dir. Valerio Rocco Orlando).
Since 2017, he is a guest professor of DIT - production workflow for editors at the ESCAC (Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya).
